Before proceeding with the following. Make sure you are connected to QU-WiFi or on a wired connection. If you are remote/offsite. Connect to the internet and make sure you are connected to the VPN.
- Please start by downloading the EDconnect installer https://fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/library/edconnect/2024-02-27/edconnect-861-download-windows-updated-march-1-2024
Before you run the EDconnect installer that you just downloaded, you will need to request admin access on your Queens provided computer.
- Click on the green check mark that is in your icon tray and click on "Request Administrator access". A new window should open asking you to input a reason for the admin access. You can just put "to install EDconnect 8.6.1". Click OK. It will automatically be approved and give you admin access right away. You will be granted 20 minutes of admin access.
- Once you have the admin access, go ahead and right click on the EDconnect 8.6.1 installer and click on "Run as administrator". Click "yes" on the next prompt.
- The installer should start. You will get to a screen that wants a "Setup Type". Please choose "Workstation Install" and then Next. Click Next again to confirm the destination folder of the install.
- You will land on this screen. Click on Browse and look for the "edconnect8" folder in your J drive. Click OK once you have selected it. The exact location of that is \\qufs01\shared\sfs\edconnect8\
- Once you selected the EDconnect folder and hit OK, the text field should show "J:\EDconnect8". Click Next
- EDconnect 8.6.1 will now finish installing and you should get to a window that asks you to reboot the computer. You can ignore that for now, but make sure to do it later.
- This window should pop up automatically. You can try running EDconnect 8.6.1 from here. EDconnect should launch normally and you can login.

Troubleshooting
When launching EDconnect 8.6.1 you might run into this error message.
If this happens, make sure your J drive/SFS folder doesn't have a red X next to it. If it does just simply click on the J drive/shared drive. It should be green like this. Once you see your J drive green like this then you shouldn't get the database error anymore and you can launch EDconnect like normal.
