How Do I Install Skype For Business?

PC:

  1. Navigate to mail.queens.edu
  1. Sign in using your complete Office 365 email address as the username.  Ex. john.doe@queens.edu
  2. When your mailbox opens, click the "Settings" icon, located near top of the mail window next to your name.
  3. Click "Office 365 Settings".
  4. Click "Software".
  5. Once on the Skype For Business page, select your system version, then click "Install".
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  7. When the installation is complete, open Skype for Business if it is not already open.
  1. Enter your full email address as the "Sign-in address".
  2. Enter your Queens password
  3. Click the Sign-in button.

Mac:

  1. Navigate to mail.queens.edu
  1. Sign in using your complete Office 365 email address as the username.  Ex. john.doe@queens.edu
  2. When your mailbox opens, click the "Settings" icon, located near top of the mail window next to your name.
  3. Click "Office 365 Settings".
  4. Click "Software".
  1. Select “Skype for Business” on the left side of the Software page.
  2. Click on the install button under the Skype for Business logo.
    1. **Note: Although you’ve selected Skype for Business, the older version of this software (called Lync) will be installed on your computer. This is because Microsoft has not yet released Skype for Business on the Mac. You will be able to use Lync to communicate with those who have Skype for Business installed.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  4. When the installation is complete, open Lync if it is not already open.
  5. Enter your full email address as the “User ID”.
  6. Enter your Queens password.
  7. Click “Advanced”.
  8. Under Connection Settings, under both Internal and External server name enter “sipdir.online.lync.com:443”.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click the Sign-in button.
  11. If the steps 13-14 does not connect, Select Automatically connect button as choice 
  12. Click OK.
